The company is keen to address the skills shortage afflicting the engineering sector, and has a long- standing history of working in partnership with local agencies, colleges, charities and government departments to help rectify this.
Taylor Herrick Recruitment: A recruitment specialist which works with the construction sector and others. The company’s main office is in Henley in Arden. Since its launch 10 years ago, it has doubled its workforce and reinvested its profits to boost technology and training. It has also found time to become involved in the local community, including hosting a homeless soup kitchen.
Trowers & Hamlins LLP: This firm of solicitors works with all types of businesses across the private and public sector. The past three years have been significant for the company, in terms of the growth of its Birmingham office, which remains a key part of Trowers’ international chain of branches.

Ark Media: Sutton Coldfield-based Ark Media is now in its 10th year of trading. The firm is a video production specialist and works with medium to large companies who want to communicate with their customers or staff. Last year it
was ranked as one of the UK’s top 50 video companies by an industry magazine.
Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Trust: A specialist health provider, incorporating Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Birmingham Women’s Hospital. The Trust deals with more than 470,000 patient visits each year. Every day its professionals provide some of the most advanced treatments, complex surgical procedures and cutting-edge research found anywhere in the world. It is also a major centre for research and development.
METCloud: Cyber security company aiming to become a global operator during the next five years. Met is currently working to establish its US headquarters in Maryland, due to open at the end of the year. The company has also appointed Don Randall, the former head of information security at the Bank of England, to its advisory board.
RSS Infrastructure Ltd: An Aston- based infrastructure company which has 92 employees and is a Network Rail contractor to Network Rail. The company has introduced a number of a safety initiatives for trackside workers, including a semi- automatic track warning system which will warn people if a train is approaching. A further safety innovation is a personnel warning system which alerts trackside workers if a train is reversing or moving slowly in their vicinity.
STEAMhouse – Birmingham City University: STEAMhouse is a centre for innovation and aims to foster collaborations between the arts world and that of STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) – hence the name (STEM with Arts). Its first facility, a former car showroom in Digbeth, was opened last year.
TerraQuest Solutions Ltd: Technology solutions provider for both the public and private sectors. It provides land acquisition and services to support transport, utility and regeneration projects. It works on many major infrastructure projects, including HS2 and Crossrail. Last year it launched a new service, Financial Transaction Service, to process fees for planning applications.
University of Birmingham: The university was founded in 1900 and is one of the best-known education institutions in the UK. Among its many offerings are the activities of its business engagement team, which seeks to promote stronger ties with industry, in order to promote the university’s mission and civic duty.
Wheely Safe Ltd: A wheel loss and tyre pressure management system for commercial vehicles. The company was founded in Burntwood in 2010 and its system is designed to warn lorry drivers when their wheels are about to fall off. It is reckoned that there are some 11,000 such incidents each year in the UK.

Conference Aston: Conference Aston is based at Aston University and is Birmingham’s largest residential conference venue. Its revenues are reinvested back into teaching, research and campus development. Since 2013, the venue has invested more than £5.5m in its facilities, which has helped it host a number of major international academic conferences.
Hagley Hall: A weddings, corporate entertainment and private events venue. The hall was built in the 1700s and is currently being restored to its former glory by the 12th Viscount Cobham. In 2017, the
Viscount acquired neighbouring Hagley Golf Club, reinforcing the family’s commitment to investing in business in the local community.
Prodrift Academy UK: This motorsport firm is working towards building a team to compete in the British Drift Championships – something it hopes will cement its position as “the home of professional drift training”. The business is based at Birmingham Wheels Park and offers intensive training and driving experiences for all.
The Edgbaston: A hospitality venue which is well known for its cocktail lounge and afternoon tea activities. Among its current plans is the development of a new garden terrace with Moet, which will be used for dining and al fresco drinking. It also hopes to offer bakery classes at its new kitchen.
Millennium Point: Millennium Point operates an event and venue hire business at its premises, aimed at corporates and educational organisations. Millennium Point has hosted a wide range of events, from a Royal visit to being used by the BBC for filming a drama. Its most recent development has been to turn the former IMAX cinema into new space to hold events.
Hotel Du Vin Birmingham: One of the best known hotels in Birmingham city centre. The hotel was once the Victorian-built home of the Midland Eye Hospital and incorporates many of the building’s original features, including a sweeping staircase. The hotel has 66 rooms, a bistro and four meeting rooms.
Park Regis Birmingham: This hotel provides four-star accommodation, high-quality food and drinks, and hosts large conferences and events.
