oming second at interview was becoming all too familiar - so I stepped up my game. I did more voluntary


work and set up a non-profit Community Interest Company called Seadream, which enabled me to apply for funding. SEADREAM stands for Science and Engineering Around Devon, Research, Education And More! Seadream now has three female

doctorate directors and we deliver activities and carry out marine biology and education research across the South West and aims to bring exciting science and engineering outreach to instil passion, awe, knowl- edge, understanding and respect for the world around us. Seadream has visited in excess of 100 schools (most schools multiple times!) and delivered to public audiences of well over a thousand during large events such as Devon County Show and Glas-Denbury music festival. We are also now actively researching different community interest issues - including jellyfish distribution using eDNA, marine plastic pathways, environmental design of sea defences and the Impact of outreach and public engagement. We are looking forward to exciting things for this year’s

a large pavilion full of enthusiastic scientists, educators and environment


specialists - with a passion for our oceans. In our “Ocean Discovery Zone” we host representatives from around 10 local groups with a shared passion for our ocean. Each group puts on a show or does some interactive activity, all for free, to share awareness. Seadream will be having fun with bioluminescence - The British Divers Marine Life Rescue will be doing seal health checks – ‘Till the coast is clear’ will have their boat and showcase their great clean-up effort and much, much more. Our wonderful pavilion space is sponsored by Devon County Show itself, Coastal recycling, Havells Electrical, Brooklands Events and hopefully one other TBC! www.seadreameducation.com
