35 HEALTH WELLBEING AND LIFESTYLE FAIR

MAY 11TH OUTSIDE QUAY HOUSE, KINGSBRIDGE Norton Brook Patient Participation Group (PPG) have organised a Health Wellbeing and Lifestyle Fair on May 11th from 10am-3pm in the grounds outside Quay House and including Age Concern, The Rest Centre and The Library, Kingsbridge. The idea behind this venture is to try and highlight some of the many voluntary organisations, groups, facilities we have in this area who can support the community in relation to health and wellbeing. The event is an opportunity for individuals to be able to approach representatives. The day will be a mixture of stands, displays and activities and taster sessions. We hope that it will be useful for the whole community. With Social Prescribing being increasingly talked about and having recently been launched in this area it will also be an opportuni- ty to find out what that is. If you are part of an organisation and think this is an event you would like to take part in, please contact the PPG Chairman Gill White on gill.white514@gmail.com More details and a timetable for this will be announced in due course, check local press or visit our facebook page: www.facebook.com/KingsbridgeHealthWellbeingLifestyleFair

Mine’s a pint! -- it’s time for the Welly Beer Fest again! SUNDAY 26TH 1 P.M

MAY • CREEKS END INN • KINGSBRIDGE • FROM

Raising funds f or r esear ch int o mot or neur one disease Sunday May 26th is the date for this year’s Beer Fest, once again hosted by the Creeks End Inn on the Town Square in Kingsbridge. There will be six or seven local beers to sample and two Devon ciders. Not a beer drinker? Then there will be a selection of gins and mixers to choose from to try and find your perfect G&T, while you listen to some relaxed jazz and maybe win an instant raffle prize. The Welly Beer Fest has been an annual event for the past ten years and, while it is always a fun and sociable afternoon, it has a serious side. It was started to raise funds for research into motor neurone disease, in support of a local man living with MND, and all profits go to the Motor Neurone Disease Association. The disease is currently incurable and is always fatal sooner or later. MND has become more widely recognised over the past several years, with dedicated work by the MND Association – remember the ice bucket challenge? – but there is a continued need for funding to try and find treatment. Come on down for a pint in the sun on 26th
