Plastic bags have been banned, brown paper ones are expensive, and we are encouraged by Country Markets Ltd to recycle newspaper as our favoured wrapping material.Further changes occurred in 1995 when WI Markets ceased to exist for legal and financial reasons. Kingsbridge then became a member of ‘WI Country Markets Ltd” and in 2004 the use of the WI initials was discontinued . Of course everyone still refers to the weekly market in the Town Hall as the ‘WI’ market. Old habits die hard!
