the door on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. People also love our burgers, fish cakes and hog roast baps. We’ve built a really good reputation for fresh home cooked local food.

What’s a typical day like in the café? We get ready for the breakfast rush at about 10am and serve breakfast until midday. Then it’s lunches from midday to 3pm, 2.30pm on Sundays. I grab a quick 15-minute lunch break if I’m lucky. Then it’s serving lots of tea and cakes and cream teas all afternoon. At the end of the day I sit down in the café with a coffee to sort out staff rotas and any other paperwork.

How many staff work in the café? There’s 16 staff in the café and kitchen, including part-time

stuff. You can’t just walk away from it when it’s your own business.

What’s your favourite dish? I love a good salad or a proper fishfinger sandwich.

youngsters at the weekends. We have a brilliant hardworking team. It’s hard work but everyone mucks in and it’s a fun atmosphere.

What’s the best thing about working in a family business? The family support for sure. We also get the chance to make decisions, be creative and use our own ideas. It’s very rewarding – we can sit back sometimes and feel very proud.

Where are you when you’re not at the café? I have a baby girl Olive who’s nine months old. When I get back home from work I’m on her routine – cooking dinner, bath time and early bedtime.

Favourite film or TV programme: I love a good documentary on Netflix. Place most like to visit: Kefalonia, it’s beautiful. I’ve been a couple of times already. Me and Rich were due to get married out there last year but we had a baby instead. Olive was born the day we were due to fly out.
