NAME: Conor O’Sullivan COMPANY: O’Sullivan Financial Planning JOB TITLE: Director & Chartered Financial Planner

WHAT DOES YOUR ORGANISATION DO? I help people achieve and maintain the lifestyle they desire by providing independent financial advice across investments, retirement planning, protection (human insurance) and inheritance tax planning.

HOW DID IT ALL START? I am entering my 17th year in the profession which has included being a financial adviser and various leadership and strategy roles all involving wealth management. Last year I decided to get off the corporate treadmill and start my own business.

WHAT’S YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT? I’ve recently been recognised as one of the UK’s Top-Rated Financial Advisers in the Sunday Times based purely on client feedback. This came within six months of going back to a client-facing role which is both humbling and something I’m extremely proud of.

WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE AT NIGHT? My kids. I have a five-year-old and a two-year-old who seem to rejoice in getting me up at all hours.

WHAT HAS SURPRISED YOU MOST IN YOUR JOB? Networking is a lot more enjoyable than I expected. I have met some great people through the Chamber who have helped me more than I could ever thank them for.

‘IF PEOPLE LIKE AND

TRUST YOU, THEY WILL NOT ONLY BUY FROM YOU BUT WILL

RECOMMEND YOU’

WHAT’S THE BIGGEST RISK YOU’VE EVER TAKEN – AND DID IT WORK OUT? Walking away from a very good corporate package and the security that brings to starting my own firm. No regrets at all!

S.H.M.B help open doors for business owners and employees to make a little passive income for a rainy day.

You can be hands on and learn the skills needed to place your own trades. Or let someone do it for you.

Remember a little bit can go a long way. So, if you want to raise a bit for that family holiday, house renovations, or for the future then get in touch.

Disclaimer; Money or assets traded can go up but can also go down, so don’t trade anything you aren't willing to loose. We don't provide investment advise.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING OUT? Build your network based on relationships and don’t try and sell to anyone. If people like and trust you, they will not only buy from you but will recommend you.

WHAT EXCITING PROJECTS IS YOUR ORGANISATION WORKING ON? I am currently developing a series of Financial Wellbeing workshops. Financial education is non-existent in this country and financial worries and pressures can have significant mental health impacts. We’re looking to run a series of workshops to support employers with their overall wellbeing programme.

WHAT MADE YOU JOIN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE CHAMBER AND HOW ARE YOU MAKING USE OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP? Sunny is very convincing! In seriousness a school friend of mine suggested it and spoke highly of the benefits he has seen from it, so it was a no-brainer.
