IN THE SPOTLIGHT: SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY GOING AUTOMATIC FOR THE PEOPLE

A new showroom that specialises in smart technology for homes and businesses has opened its doors to the trade and public in Northampton. TAG Electrical and CD Blinds

have joined forces to create a smart home automation system showroom which includes lighting, integrated SONOS sound systems, remote control blinds and bi-folding doors. The official launch party saw

around 120 members of the trade and public attend. Upon arrival they were welcomed into the new showroom whilst TAG Electrical co-owners, Tom White and Gavin Chambers said a few words to officially open the space. Tom said: “Everyone seemed

really impressed with the showroom and the technology

behind it all. It was great explaining to people how a smart home can really change the way you live and make your life much easier.” The project, which took two

years in the making and cost around £35,000 to complete, was well received by the guests in attendance. Gavin said: “Our systems not

only benefit home owners but also business owners. On the launch night, we were able to demonstrate how an automated system can assist a business and allow the office to basically run itself with the touch of a button.” The guests were given

demonstrations of how everything worked and were particularly impressed with the automation systems and lighting available.

DIGITAL TESTING AIDS DYSLEXIA DIAGNOSIS

Dyslexia Diagnostics has taken the plunge and invested in a new system that allows clinical tests to be administered digitally – on an iPad! This is a huge leap forward for

the company and Dyslexia Diagnostics is one of the very few companies that have made this investment in the locality. Registered and chartered

psychologist Nisha Tanna said: “The primary driving force behind this transition was to increase client engagement. As a large majority of our clients are under the age of 16, moving away from cumbersome paper and pencil tests and embracing new and advanced technology has been really appealing. “The children and young people

that have used the system have responded really well to this form

and have described the process as ‘more exciting’. “Other advantages of digital

testing include a more streamlined assessment process, more fluid administration, automated scoring, and access to the most up-to-date clinical tools on the market. “Digital testing also means that

clients are not faced with materials that have been damaged or marked by previous users. These advantages are experienced by both the test-taker and the administrator.” Dyslexia Diagnostics has also

introduced a digital screening tool, for children aged from five to 16, with the aim of supporting schools and parents with early identification and therefore intervention.

said: “At present we are one of only two users of this technology in the UK, and what it offers above and beyond other software is the ability for our therapists to work much more closely with clients even when they are at home. “We now have the ability to

record you carrying out rehab exercises during your session with us, quickly upload it to your account, and link these videos to a home exercise plan. The app, which is free to download will send you

push messages to remind you to carry out your exercises, and there is a direct messaging feature, in case you need further guidance from your therapist while you are doing your rehab. “One feature which is coming

soon is the integrated ability to carry out online physio assessments via our platform and in your own account. “This is something we already

offer but to bring it all under one roof is something we are very excited about.” On another front, Move4 is also

very excited about the addition of its new therapist Melissa Smith, who will be offering Physio Led Pilates classes on Mondays.
