HOUSING GROUP HELPS TENANTS

An award-winning housing association is helping prospective customers ditch their debt before they take on tenancies. Futures Housing Group has launched the Affordability Calculator, an online tool designed to help people manage their money and reduce the risk of falling into debt. It is aimed at people who submit

applications to live in one of Futures Housing Group’s 9,800 homes throughout the East Midlands. Lizzie Spencer, the Group’s

arrears prevention lead, said: “We’re really pleased to launch the Affordability Calculator. It means we can work with people before they become customers to make sure they can afford to pay their rent.” The calculator takes users

through a number of steps, asks for income and outgoings and calculates if they can afford a property or not. The tool will highlight when

people are spending more than their income and will refer them to the association’s award-winning money advice team. Last year the team helped

customers make savings or access benefits of nearly £2m.

PHOTOGRAPHERS FOCUS ON DAVENTRY BUSINESS

An award-winning team of photographers and videographers are using their passion for imagery to give businesses in their home town a boost. Pictures55 are commissioned to work all over the

UK but for the past year they have been working on local projects to help businesses in Daventry. They have worked with Love Daventry and a

Facebook group called Discover Daventry and have been offering advice to show local businesses how to make the most of their online presence. Director Stuart Reynolds said: “We love Daventry

and we decided we wanted to do what we could to help organisations that are trying to improve the town centre.

“We’ve been offering advice and have also put

together packages for local businesses to make it easier for them to add content and videos to their websites and social media at affordable prices.” The firm is also helping businesses to make sure

they are keeping their online content fresh. Stuart explained: “When we shoot a video for a

business we suggest that we also film a number of other short soundbites promoting reoccurring offers. “That way they have additional material, that isn’t

dated, with which they can populate their feeds and regularly freshen up their communication.”
