IN THE SPOTLIGHT: COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING ONLINE SHOP

IS BOOMING Business is booming for an award-winning online retailer that offers unique and unusual gifts that cannot be purchased on the High Street. Personalised Gifts Shop was launched by Jane Gokgoz at her kitchen table in 2011 and has gone on to become an online phenomenon offering 14,000 gifts. In the past few months it

has acquired an adjoining warehouse, increasing its storage and production area to almost 25,000 sq ft and production machinery by 30%. As a result of this growth, it

has employed seven more full- time members of staff and last Christmas the firm’s revenue grew by 52%. Jane said: “Doubling the

production and storage area has been one of the most important decisions I’ve ever made. This enabled us to increase our machinery and staff. As a result, we have seen a 50% increase in our revenue.”

Kettering-based Sign of the Times is hoping for another win at this year’s FESPA awards, having previously been awarded the top accolade, the Gold Award, in 2016. The impressive entry this year is

for their role as production partners to client Acrylicize, manufacturing and installing the ‘Piccadilly Lamps’ art installation in Manchester. This unique installation located in

a key public space in Manchester city centre was designed by Acrylicize to celebrate the city’s rich history of innovation and community. The five scaled, architecturally

formed, fully illuminated lamps were constructed to provide people with lighting, shelter and heat over the winter months and have proved a great feature piece for the area. Sign of the Times hopes to add

to their recent 2018 success at the British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA), alongside their North East-based partner Astley. The partnership scooped a total of four wins and were shortlisted in a further four categories; Astley winning in the Illuminated Sign of the Year for their ‘Great North Run’

installation on the Tyne Bridge, and Rollout Programme of the Year for work with international brand, BP. The ‘two brands, one solution’

partnership between Sign of the Times and Astley means that clients are supported with a fully comprehensive and complete range
