Designer Contracts earns place on Best of British list
Designer Contracts, the UK’s largest flooring contractor, with a regional facility in Chesterfield, has been named in The Business Reporter’s Best of British Business campaign, distributed with The Daily Telegraph, celebrating success stories in British business. The prestigious accolade has
been awarded to just ten companies in the UK, which have all demonstrated leadership and excellence, and continue to drive the UK economy. Celebrating its 25th year in
business, Designer Contracts originally started in MD Peter Kelsey’s garage and has grown to become the biggest player in its sector with 15 regional centres now established across mainland UK. He said: “We are delighted to
have been recognised for our commitment to the UK economy. We put our success down to making customers our number one priority and ensuring service is at the forefront of everything we do.” As a result of the win, The
Business Reporter has invited Peter to take part in a filmed interview to discuss the key principles of the company’s success.
Designer Contracts is also a
member of Carpet Recycling UK and runs a carpet recycling scheme which diverts 90% of its fitters' unfitted carpet into felt underlay. The scheme saves 250 tonnes of waste going to landfill every year.

Auctioneer makes more history with award win
The UK’s largest independent auction house, John Pye, has been crowned Asset Valuer/Auctioneer of the Year for the fourth consecutive year at the UK Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) Awards. This accolade is the fourth
consecutive win for the company, which made history last year when it won the award for the third time. The business celebrated a double
award success as John Pye’s property division took home the Property Valuation Provider of the Year award for the first time. The annual TRI Awards – which
are independently judged by a panel of leading industry professionals and celebrated distinguished business leaders – recognise and celebrate excellent practice and best value in turnaround, corporate restructuring and insolvency nationwide. The judges felt John Pye brought
something new to this category, showing its use of an app to keep clients informed. This innovative use of
technology, and breadth of cases undertaken, was impressive. John Pye, which is celebrating 50
years in business this year, appraises, values and auctions a vast range of stock and assets: from
