THE SIBFORDIAN 2018

New Staff ... introducing the new faces who have joined Sibford over the past academic year.

Catherine Harnett Teaching Assistant

I read Geography at Durham University before moving to London to become a Property Market Analyst for an international property company. Following the birth of my daughter, I moved back to my rural roots and quickly had my little boy. After some quality time at home with my family, I decided a new challenge was needed and applied for a Teaching Assistant Position – which luckily, I got! Working at Sibford is a pleasure and the school’s inclusive nature has meant I have felt part of this community from the very beginning. Sibford’s unique approach to both the education and the personal development of its students makes my job, in supporting them, very rewarding. When I’m not at work, most of my spare time is spent chasing around after my children but I am an avid reader and love to travel when I get the opportunity.

Michelle Holdsworth Art Technician

I gained a BEng degree in Product design and manufacturing engineering from Loughborough University. I went on to work for

Nissan designing the interior of cars and then became a full time mum and developed a passion for anything crafty. I set up a business doing craft birthday parties and adult craft and sewing courses. I love the atmosphere here at Sibford, all the children and staff are so happy, and

everyone has respect for each other. My little boy, who is a Year 5 pupil here, said he would miss school over the summer holidays, I certainly never felt like that when I was a child! When I’m not at work I do like to keep fit. I love doing the Banbury Park Run on a Saturday morning with all my family. Since my son has been at Sibford he is far fitter and I now can’t keep up with him (he recently did PB of 27mins), so I run with my 4-year-old instead! I also play netball for Hook Norton.

Ian Humphries IT Engineer

I have had a varied career, originally working in printing/ graphics but have always enjoyed computers and what makes them tick. I worked as IT engineer at Banbury School and enjoyed supporting the school environment. My first experience

of Sibford School was coming for my interview. As I stepped out the car hearing bird song and children’s laughter I knew that I had finally landed! All staff are so warm and welcoming which really helped me to settle in. I am immensely proud of my two children; Victoria (13 years old) and Jacob (11 years old) and am a football dad to Jacob who this year has stepped up to join the English Junior Premier League. I also ferry my daughter around as she is a budding drama queen, starring in several theatre productions already this year.

Harriet Meddows

Maths Teacher (and from September 2018 Head of Maths) I have been teaching for over 10 years, but I’m still just as enthusiastic about Mathematics and Teaching and Learning as I was on my first day. I moved with my family to a local village in 2017. I already had connections with the school and was over the moon when a
