THE SIBFORDIAN 2018 E
very year, as part of our end of term Curriculum Enrichment
Week, Year 9 travel to France and Belgium to visit the battlefields of World War 1 and the War Graves.
This year’s visit was particularly poignant as 2018 marks the centenary of the end of the war.
Sunken Lane at The Somme ... pupils looked at photographs of troops sitting behind the front line while sitting in almost identical positions.
As a pre-cursor to their excursion, Year 9 spent the first day of CEW looking at Peace and Reconciliation.
Activities included: * Weeding and planting
roses in our Peace Garden.
* Making clay poppies which, once fired, are due to be placed on display in the Peace Garden.
* Using drama to illustrate the horrors of trench life.
We were delighted to be joined
by Maud Grainger from Friends House who spoke about conscientious
