The IAFE and the National Inde-


pendent Concessionaires Associa- tion (NICA) invite IAFE member fairs to participate in the IAFE/NICA Read and Win program. The pro- gram benefits local elementary- school children by encouraging them to read library books. For reading the books, students in grades one through eight are re- warded with both a ribbon book- mark provided by the IAFE and NICA, and vouchers for complimen- tary fair admission, midway rides, a soft drink, and/or similar items pro- vided by participating fairs, mid- ways, and/or concessionaires. a free or discounted voucher offer to be awarded along with the Read and Win bookmark. Fairs then make arrangements with their local libraries and school departments to distribute the rewards. The IAFE office will provide up to 1,000 com- plimentary ribbons to each participating fair. Additional ribbons may be purchased for 7


cents each. It is recommended that the initial number of ribbons ordered equal 20% of the total number of students enrolled in grades one through eight in the region the fair plans to in- clude in the program. Fairs are responsible for providing their own
