Hillsborough County Fair Watch Us Grow!

Suzanne Holcomb – Hillsborough County Fair As we move forward into 2018 and begin to prepare for the

2018 Hillsborough County Fair, the fair staff and board of direc- tors continue to expand the fairgrounds and make improvements to our facilities. We have all heard the phrase “growing pains” and we are learning firsthand what that means as we continue to grow at a rapid pace. Over the past few years the fair has seen completion of a 7,000-square foot climate controlled exhibition building and a 13,000-square foot ventilated open exhibition space. We have also constructed a packing house building in our historic Hometown Hillsborough area for storage during non- fair hours and an interactive historical replica of a packing house during the fair. We have also expanded our parking areas, im- proved our entry roads and walkways. Currently the fair is work- ing on many projects that will be completed by the 2018 Hills- borough County Fair. We will continue to expand parking areas, roadways and walkways. We are installing a sidewalk in our parking area and along our main entrance to improve safety to our guests. We are also nearing completion of our new Enter- tainment Pavilion, which is a 2,000-square foot open side pavil- ion that will house our local entertainment acts during the fair. Concrete was recently poured and finishing touches are being completed. We are also planning completion of a 26-space camper area with full hookups for our visiting RVs, travel trailers and campers. But it’s not just our facilities that are growing! We are seeing

growth in our fair attendance, non-fair events and competitive programs. Our livestock program for 2018 continues to grow, adding a new Market Steer and Market Lamb show and sale, with plans for our 2018 Market Weekend in our Livestock area the first week of our fair. We also continued with our successful Market Turkey program that will have 50 double-breasted bronze

turkeys on display and for silent auc- tion by our youth exhibitors. Our STEM and Ag Education area also is growing, doubling in exhibition space. We will have new interactive exhibitors incorporating science, technology, engineering and math, while adding new youth competitive events in all these areas. We want to welcome all our fair friends and

family to the 2018 Hills-

borough County Fair that will kick off on Oct 18 and run through Oct 28 (dark Mon-Wed).We hope you will come see us grow!
