YPI Update Nicole Jones, Chair The 2018 Florida Federation and Zone 2 convention has come and gone. This year I

feel went even better than the Florida Federations YPI had hoped. The FFF YPI would like to take this time to acknowledge and thank all those fairs and individuals who so generously helped our charity drive, Mix ‘n Mingle event and other fundraisers go off without a hitch. This year the YPI committee chose The Literacy Volunteers of Collier County as the bene-

ficiary of our charity drive. We want to thank all those who donated physical items as well as monetary donations for their contributions. I know the Board was very thankful for everything we were able to raise and contribute, as I heard from TJ Snopkowski. Our end total for mon- etary contributions came out at $850 and I couldn’t be more thankful or impressed with the caring and thoughtlessness of our fairs and associates. Thank you again and were already gearing up for 2019. If you know of or have a local non-profit you know can benefit from our YPI Charity drive, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me so I can get in touch with the group to see if we can meet their needs. The Mix ‘n Mingle event in its second year was another big

success. This year our number of registrants more than doubled, from 25 to 64. This event could not have been so successful or gone off without a hitch had it not been for Suzanne Holcomb with the Hillsborough County Fair. I want to personally thank her for all her time and effort, especially attention to detail, that she put into making this event a success. I think it’ll be hard to top Splitsville and bowling, but I believe we’re up to the challenge. We are already research- ing ideas for 2019 and have a few things up our sleeves. Watch for details to trickle out as we finalize our event. Lastly, as the committee

chair I challenged the Flori- da YPI group to help raise money to donate to the Zone 2 YPI Scholarship fund for the national conven-

tion. Through the sales of “Wonka Bars,” (at the Showcase extravaganza), these Wonka Bars were sold at $10 apiece, 65 total bars pre-purchased, where we raised $650 towards the scholarship. Also, for this fundraiser, The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair in Maryland, Laura Murek Zone 2 YPI steering committee chair, donated a basket to the silent auction that went for $350.This generous donation raised our total amount to $1,000 which is exactly what we needed to achieve our goal of sending one Zone 2 YPI scholarship recipient to San Antonio for the 2018 Convention! We can’t thank you enough for reaching deep to help raise funds to be able to provide this scholarship for the future of our fairs. Be on the lookout at the
