Old School Charm for the Modern Man
An exciting new barbershop has opened in halesworth. Owner, Chris, took inspiration from the traditional style, ethos and feel of a barbershop from ‘back in the day’ and has designed his new shop for today’s man. Masculine comfort is the focus here. For many men hair salons can be an intimidating environment, here at Gentlemen’s Row the focus is exclusively on men and so a stylish, informal, relaxed atmosphere is a must. This represents a significant
career change for Chris, having previously been an hGV driver. Knowing he wanted a change of career Chris’s partner, Aimee, suggested barbering. Aimee is well known in town as the owner of award winning salon, Cabello, so she was well placed to help Chris get started. The journey began with a three-month full-time course at the London School of Barbering which Chris attended through July, August and September last year. having gained his nVQ Level 2 in barbering Chris has since completed a week of training with Vidal Sassoon, a day intensive advanced
training at Swagger & Jacks in norwich, and a two-day traditional cut throat shave course, again, at the London School of Barbering. Chris is passionate about training and will continue to develop his skills and knowledge. having qualified, Chris took
a chair at Cabello and it quickly became apparent there was a niche as in no time at all he was fully booked. This got the couple thinking and they began to consider opening a dedicated barbershop. As it happened, the shop at 33 Quay Street came available and so Chris and Aimee jumped at the opportunity; the rest, as they say, is history! Gentlemen’s Row has
been tastefully decorated with bespoke hand-built Cedarwood and Oak fittings and a contemporary colour scheme. Chris already has many regular clients and is becoming extremely popular. however, gents of halesworth need not despair as walk- ins are available with harry Mousley. Like Chris, harry is a fully qualified barber and a real gentleman and Chris is
delighted to be able to welcome young barbering talent to his shop. Completing the team is Saturday boy, Reece Spurgeon. Reece is a local lad who is interested in learning more about the world of barbering - where better to start! The team offer all the services
a modern gent might need or want. Cutting and styling all hair types as well as offering a traditional hot towel cut-throat shave. All ages are welcome, from juniors on their first visit to over 65’s making the most of a discount day on Tuesdays. The service, warm welcome
and stylish décor are all reason enough to visit Gentlemen’s Row. however, this place really has been designed with men in mind. Once inside you will notice the dartboard to the right of the door. not only is this here for a bit of fun whilst you wait. But, on a Saturday take part in the bullseye challenge! everyone gets one dart and the first to hit the target wins a voucher for a free hair cut at a later date. If darts isn’t your thing then take a seat and watch the TV, pick up a puzzle or brain-teaser or log in to the free
wi-fi and catch up with your social media feeds and email. There are even USB charging points, so you don’t have to worry about running down your battery. It is all about attention to
detail here. The team use Redken Brews which is an exclusive product only available in 5% of barbershops around the country. Chris has invested in top of the range equipment to match the high level of service he offers. At Gentlemen’s Row the goal is to provide a first-class experience at an affordable price.
