ThIS has been a busy time for the hDC as we have changed from spring to summer with our plants around the building. however, if you are the person who stole one of our newly planted shrubs, please return it. Lynda is now responsible for
them. We thank everyone who offered us equipment last Autumn to enable this to come to fruition under Wally’s experience. We now have a smart postbox
thanks to Barry and the assistance from the Men’s Shed to prevent everything falling on the floor. Members are enjoying the delights of Wimbledon teas etc at this time thanks to Glenda, our cook, and her aides Margaret and Doreen, to ensure we have strawberries and cream etc with a special cake to take home for tea. We have welcomed Kath as
a bus escort on Tuesdays each week. If you would like to help on a Tuesday or Friday, please contact Jean at the Centre - 01986 835838 please leave your name and contact telephone number. If you would like to come
and join us or see what we have for you, please contact the above numbers or just come in

SO in the end of the 2017/8 season we finished in twelfth place, for the first time since our drop into League One we ended up below our neighbours up the road. That lead to the appointment of Paul Lambert and the rest as they say is history. Whether we shall ever get back into the Premier League is debatable. Money rules in present day football and our joint owners can not compete with the foreign investors flooding into the League. The parachute payments following relegation have now ended and this has forced the sale of last year’s player of the season James Maddison and winger Josh Murphy. We desperately
need to find an improvement in the number of goals scored and hopefully there will be some spare funds to buy one or two forwards. Our Fantasy Football competition was in doubt right up to the Cup Final but the number of players in the Final were enough for Bob to win for the second year in a row. James was a respectable runner up. The annual auction for the next season will be held at the end of August, Bob has kindly volunteered to hold our summer BBQ on August 12th.
C.C. Wenhaston WI
OUR evening started off with a bang as we wished Mary a happy 90th birthday. We gave her a toast with a glass of prosecco which she had provided. Two members had made and iced a beautiful cake, a slice of which we enjoyed later at our tea break. Janet Dillaway then gave us
a talk about her work in Child Protection. It is a demanding and responsible job. Today the family make-up is very different
from what it was in the past. now there can be siblings, an extended family and grandparent’s opinions to be taken into consideration. Janet stressed that above all the welfare of the child is paramount. Our WI is very busy with many organised trips and other activities. In July for our meeting we are having a tea party at the Crown in Southwold, a real treat. We hope!
