BUGS Play Café was opened in October 2015. Situated on Oaklands Farm, Flixton Road, Bugs Play Café is on the same site as Oaklands Leisure Pool. The farm is owned by the Fuller families and the Play Café is the second part of diversification at the farm following the opening of the private hire pool in 2010. The pool quickly became popular and well used.

people waiting in the cars, so the Fuller family asked pool users if they felt there was a need for a facility that would cater for parents and children as well as swimmers. The result of the research was positive and they set about creating Bugs Play Café. The site is easy to find,


just a couple of miles west of Bungay, before you reach Flixton, so is ideally located


pre-school children, though the play equipment is designed for children up to 7 years old. When you enter the building, you walk past the café counter and seating area before you get to the play frame. This is fully enclosed and has good vision so parents can see their children and visa versa while children are playing. Alongside the main play frame is a smaller toddler play area for younger children and babies. There are three price brackets starting at £1.75 for little ones who are crawling, £3 for toddlers and £4.25 for fully independent play. There is no charge for adults and babies. Those that want to roar around in the fresh air will be right at home in the large outside play area. This has recently been extended and has a new outdoor climbing frame/fort to feed children’s imagination. You’ll also find a sandpit and play house, ride- ons and other play features to occupy little minds and run off some energy. naturally, this makes a


great place for a children’s party and the venue is available for private hire on Saturday afternoons and Sundays for two hours. There is a minimum number of 10 children required for private parties. The second part of the


business is the café. The team make all food fresh to order and serve a good selection of snacks, lunches and treats. Bugs café tries to keep the options on the healthy side, so you won’t find any deep- fried chips! Of course, there is


a range of homemade cakes, cookies and treats, but after all that play and swimming you need to replenish your energy! In fact, even here there has been careful attention to ensure a good choice. The café caters for all diets and allergies including a brilliant range of specialist cakes by Cakefinity. The team are pleased to offer savoury, sweet and drink options for dairy free, gluten free, soya free, vegetarian and vegan diets to name a few. take-away so it is popular with swimmers looking to recharge following some exercise. In the future the Fuller families hope to add some more outside seating – think along the lines of the european café culture – which is sure to be popular. There is plenty of on-site


parking so whether you are bringing your children for a play date, finishing a swim or just passing through, this is a great place to stop off. You’ll find a warm welcome at Bugs Play Café so why not pop in, let the kids have some fun whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea or coffee and a slice of
