MANUFACTURING A sign of the times
Neil Barker, Business Development Manager, explores how historic firm Pearce Signs has evolved to keep up with modern manufacturing.
Pearce Signs began in 1791 in the South East London area and it was Samuel Pearce who first set up a company that now boasts over 200 years of success in the design and manufacturing sector - installing long-lasting signage solutions to businesses. The direction of the business has changed drastically
through the years, having started out painting theatre scenery before going on to manufacture molded aircraft windscreens and specialist transformers for submarines and tanks during the war. The company remains a family-owned business, with the same high standards of quality. Its continued success is down to its ability to use
innovative products and craftsmanship as well as its successful systems and dedicated approach to working and completing a job. This enthusiasm has enabled Pearce Signs to work with leading businesses all around the world. Its methods have changed drastically through the years
too - moving from traditional wooden signs to three dimensional images and illumination techniques, which began as gas and was later replaced by florescent tubes and LEDs. This naturally led to the business expanding and adopting a range of new processes and materials. When Pearce Signs first expanded its custom overseas, it
decided to create a new brand which represented them slightly differently, introducing The International Sign Alliance (TISA) with the aim of offering rebranding services to its customers on a global basis. Pearce Signs’ overall aim with TISA is to establish the
business as the go-to brand which people immediately think of when considering the rebranding of any business.
These bigger, global projects are what gets the Pearce
Signs name on the map worldwide. However, the business itself finds that its biggest success stories are the smaller, day-to-day jobs as these tend to be last minute or urgent requests, in which Pearce Signs is expected to deliver. Having been around for a long period of time, Pearce
Signs is proud and honored to have worked with such a broad, global and high profile list of customers. Its success is due to a mixture of its clientele and the hard-working nature of its staff, who deliver even under significant pressure. Staff training, product innovation and customer service
have always been at the heart of the Pearce Signs strategy, but its innovative investments in health and safety and expansion of its product offering are what differentiates it from the original business format. It has also partnered with cutting-edge technology
giants in order to offer customers a wider range of services such as printing, point-of-sale products and digital media screens, among others. Pearce Signs provides full signage and branding solutions to its customers and its aims for the future are to complete projects with maximum success, pushing the business even further forward to new accomplishments. It has recently undergone a full rebrand of the business, including its global company TISA. Additionally, it is also investing circa £200k into its premises, making way for future improvements and extra facilities within the building, essentially futureproofing the business’s assets. Pearce Signs is stretching the boundaries as to what the business can achieve.
