Dunblane Primary School
Nick Talbot – Cystic Fibrosis vs Everest Chloe and Iona P4/5A
On Friday 17th November 2017, Nick Talbot came to talk to Dunblane Primary School P4 – P7 pupils after being invited in by Innes in P5. Nick has Cystic Fibrosis and he is the fi rst person with this condition that has climbed Mount Everest. He told us how it took 3 attempts to reach the top because of the bad weather and storms the fi rst two times so he had to come back again and again.
Nick had to train for six months before going. When he was there he had to eat lots of chocolate so he didn’t lose too much weight. Nick brought part of harness and bottle to show us some of the equipment he needed. Nick explained how much hard work it was but it was worth it to tell people about cystic fi brosis and raising money to try to fi nd a cure. His twitter hash tag is @CF_vs_Everest.
Sport Scotland Gold Award By P7H
Wednesday 29th November 2017 was a very special day for the learners at Dunblane Primary as it was the day that Steven from Sport Scotland attended our School Assembly to present us with our Gold School Sport Award. The school celebrated by watching videos of all the fantastic clubs and classes run within our school and by thanking all the teachers and volunteers who help to make these clubs possible. An extra special thank you goes to Miss Aylott and Hazel Dean, our Active Schools Coordinator, who organise and facilitate all the clubs and sports available in our school – well done Dunblane Primary!
Curling at the Peak By P6G
Recently Primary 6 took part in a curling taster session led by Active Stirling at The Peak. The children began with a short warm up session before hitting the ice. Some of the children had been fortunate enough to take part in the sessions last year when they were in Primary 5, but for the rest it was a totally new experience! As the session progressed the children’s confi dence grew. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon and we would like to thank Derek, Norman and Elspeth for giving up their time to share their love of the sport with the children.
