Change a Child’s Future

Stirling Council Enhanced Fostering Service

As part of developing an Enhanced Fostering Service, Stirling Council are looking to recruit a small number of Full-Time and Short Break Foster Carers.

As an Enhanced Foster Carer you will have the opportunity to care for local children who often have complex needs, particularly older children and teenagers.

We’re looking for warm, caring people who have childcare experience and want to make a real diff erence. We require above all carers who are committed to caring for Stirling’s most vulnerable children. A good carer will off er a secure and stable home to a child as well as a safe and nurturing environment.

Children who need enhanced foster care are usually older. They may have experienced varying degrees of neglect, abuse and disruption. It is likely some of the children may have lived in residential care. As a result they can present with a higher level of social, emotional and behavioural diffi culties. With the right family however, the children can grow, develop and thrive. For older children this can mean a better start in adult life.

These children need carers who can manage challenging behaviour and who can provide a safe home environment with security, clear boundaries, advice and guidance.

In addition to the general qualities and experience needed for Foster Carers, as an Enhanced Foster carer applicants will have:

The emotional strength, resilience and enthusiasm to help young people.

• An adult available at all times to support the child.

Single applicants as well as couples are welcomed.

• Couples do not need to be married or in a civil partnership but they must have lived together for a minimum of 2 years.

• •
