The Shuckin’ Shack is one of the coolest
restaurants in the upstate. Sure, it’s a part of a small chain, but when I discovered them I felt like I had hooked a big one for sure. Everything from the exterior and interior lay- out and design to the quality of food made me feel like I was in Savannah or Charleston rather than the northwest corner of South Carolina.

everyone, and there are a variety of sauces on the table, at least one of which was like stick- ing my tongue in a light socket. If you like the heat, they will bring it. Appetizers range from Sharkbite Shrimp or Mini corn dogs to Fried pickles, calamari or fried shrimp or oysters. For the longest time finding fresh oys-
ters in the Upstate was a bit of a task. These days there are many choices, but Shuckin’ Shack has become my favorite. Seated inside
tacos, a lobster roll or some shrimp sliders. The Shack also offers up “baskets,” like fish n’ chips, fried shrimp or oysters (or both!) with fries. Why not load up on crab legs, or shrimp, mussels, or do what we did and go for the place’s namesake – oysters! On this day, my friend and I ate quite a bunch of steamed oysters. (Market Price) You can also get ‘em raw, chargrilled, or fried! We polished off some of their excellent hushpuppies as well. ($3.75).
