churning out Duran Duran, Janis Joplin, Jour- ney, Joan Jett, or the B-52’s “Love Shack,” pulled off with precision by Randomonium. It was an energetic, supercharged set and the au- dience ate it up, dancing their tush’s off. Following a few more raffles, it was time

Randomonium Opening the show was Michael Buffalo

Smith, the founder of the Hall of Fame Project, writer and musical performer. Smith per- formed several songs from his soon to be re- leased EP The Austin Session, as well as the title track and others from his upcoming full length album, produced by the legendary Paul Hornsby. Songs included “Makin’ it Back to Macon,” “Painting Her Toenails,” “Smell All the Roses” and others, along with a single cover tune, “Fire On The Mountain,” penned by George McCorkle for the original Marshall Tucker Band.

After Smith and Heidi Chapman from

Randomonium gave away a few raffle prizes, it was time for Hedi and her band to take the stage. They performed a brilliant set full of songs from virtually every decade, filling the dance floor with songs like “My Perogative” and Heart’s “Magic Man,” and pulled off anice medley of “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Owner of a Lonely Heart.” This band cooks on the front burner from start to finish, whether

for the show headliner, Big Blue Planet. BBP has been rocking the Upstate for quite a while now, so we all knew we were about to hear some awesome rock and roll. They have added a couple of members since I last heart them, and sound better than ever before. Kicking off with their Christian Rock anthem, “Heaven Without You,” the guys moved thorough a se- ries of dead-on cover tunes, including Jour- ney’s beautiful “Lights,” and the huge hit “Summer of ‘69” along with a nice surprise for this reporter, the Deep Purple classic, “High- way Star.” Man, it sounded great! The Styx classic “Blue Collar Man” was a crowd favorite, as was “Stairway to Heaven,” always a wel- comed tune. BBP treated the audience to two sets, including Joe Walsh’s “Rocky Mountain Way,” Genesis’ “Land of Confusion,” and Kansas’ “Carry On Wayward Son.”

Big Blue Planet Earthfest 2017 was quite a special

evening of music and fellowship, and some se- rious dancing! Michael Buffalo Smith says, “The Southern Rock Hall of Fame wishes to thank Big Blue Planet, Randomonium and everyone involved in making this such a mem- orable event.” •
