The girls in St Dunstan’s had a fun-filled term beginning

with Chinese New Year celebrations. As every year, the Year 13’s organised the event and programme for the evening including a video talking about the legend of the animal of the year – in this case, a rooster. All of our Chinese boarders got involved in both the video and the evening itself, and had a great time.

Gresham House HOUSEnews

This year has been busy for Gresham House. The girls have been working hard for their exams and are in a great routine of self-disciplined study. We’ve managed to

have some fun too – it’s not all been about GCSEs! St Dunstan’s House

We have also been performing in the Dance Show, Spark of Life, Schola and Orchestra; studying hard and doing our mock exams; hosting three lovely exchange students from America; visiting Brighton and the FLAME Congress; and attending Lenten Talks.

We are very proud to announce that almost all of the new Prefects have been chosen from St Dunstan’s! Well done girls!

Mrs Charmaine Smith, Senior Boarding Housemistress

Weekly shared suppers on a Friday night have been a lovely way for the whole house to eat together and relax at the end of a long week. Mrs Buckle’s special fried rice has been particularly popular, as well as our attempts at sushi making.

Our weekends have been quite low key, which has given us all a bit of much-needed down time. Saturday morning lie-ins have been followed by quesadillas, usually with most people still in their pyjamas. There have been some house trips to the cinema, many visits to Tunbridge Wells for shopping and birthdays, and movie nights in the house with plenty of snacks.

During the week, our house meetings each night involve demolishing the contents of the fruit bowl, before some of us go for a workout in the fitness room. We’ve tried to achieve a balanced lifestyle in Gresham, having everything in moderation – even the enormous chocolate cakes we get for each birthday!

Our Christmas party was a great occasion, with mocktails, a quiz, music and dancing. Gresham girls know how to have a good time and there will certainly be a lot more fun to be had in the final term. We’ve had a great year and are looking forward to finishing it off in style as we say goodbye to the house of 2016/17.

Miss Lucy Allinson, Gresham House Graduate Assistant Leeds House Connelly House

Leeds girls are always busy, but this term has seen them exceed even our expectations. At weekends, they’ve made biscuits, gingerbread and

chocolates; explored the countryside; been arty and crafty with leather, feathers, ceramics and paper; sung along with favourite films; visited the home of Rudyard Kipling; experimented with face painting; swam, danced and played badminton; bounced themselves silly at a trampoline park; cooked an impressive three- course meal for our own version of Masterchef; been to the opera and on a boat trip in London, and shopped until they dropped in Tunbridge Wells!

On weekday evenings, they’ve read lots of books, made pom-poms, attended Miss Auer’s hair-plaiting workshops, had a go at Pyjama Yoga and joined in Friday games nights. They’ve still found time to do their study, practise their instruments, train and play in matches, perform in Spark of Life and the Dance Show. No wonder they sleep well at night!

Elizabeth Crawley, Housemistress The Old Cornelian SUMMER 2017

We have had another busy term in Connelly with trips to Tunbridge Wells,

on a Thames riverboat and to Covent Garden, Brighton Pavilion, and Larkfield Leisure Centre wavepool. We have been to the cinema to see “Beauty and the Beast” and some of the girls were involved in hosting our regular “Contact the Elderly” event that our elderly visitors enjoyed very much.

We are in the process of planning a Connelly Garden outside the back of the Games Room where there is a quiet and a sunny spot to put a picnic bench. We are going to plant vegetable containers and flowers to create a lovely oasis in the fresh air and sunshine.
