Cornelians’ NEWS

Emily Craig - (Class of 2011)

In May myself and my partner Kate Copeland took Bronze in the European Rowing Championships in Racice in the lightweight double sculls.

Colette Flight - (Class of 1987)

Colette Flight won a BAFTA for the BBC genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are? on which she is the Executive Producer. Colette also works on ITV series Long Lost Family and has another series marking the 70th anniversary of the Partition of India coming out over the summer.

Antonia Mochan - (Class of 1989)

About three and half years ago, I left my full-time job at the European Commission to move to Australia and go to university. Since then I have gained a Masters degree, run workshops, managed an online project, moderated panels at conferences, set up systems to help a graphic design studio work more effectively and learned to build websites from scratch. I’ve got married, and co-founded a not-for-profit company. I’ve pitched to accelerators, and taken part in hackathons. I could never have imagined doing so much that was so different to what I had done before. I came here wanting to know whether the skills I had were useful in a different setting, and I think/hope I’ve answered that question.

So now it’s time for another change. After three and a half years of hustling, I’m going back into full-time employment. From next week, I’ll be working as Senior Media Advisor in the Chancellery at the University of Melbourne. Working on the EU-Australia Leadership Forum I realised how much I enjoyed media work and how much I missed it. I had no particular drive to go back to full-time work, but I’ve always surfed my career, and this felt like the next wave to jump on.

This also felt like a good time to move to my new website, which I’ve built myself and I hope showcases how much I’ve learned (as well as how much more I have to learn!). So take a look around, and please let me know what you think. Until I get my comments sorted, you can contact me via the website (http://antoniamochan.com/another‐change.html) or on twitter (@antoniam)

Marie‐Charlotte Brandon (née Kiraly - Class of 1999)

Marguerite was born in Singapore last September and is keeping her older brothers, James and Albie on their toes! After spending five wonderful years in SE Asia, our family is relocating to Miami, USA this summer so we are looking forward to this new chapter. Despite living far from my spiritual home, I've had the pleasure in seeing some OCs recently, Megan Reynolds came to visit last October and I met up with Alexandra Crosthwaite (Hain-Cole) in Spain.

The Old Cornelian SUMMER 2017

I suppose what really made it special was that even racing at Europeans in the double let alone winning a medal was a massive surprise...it was only decided I would be in the boat 10 days before racing. Being in the double is a totally new challenge and one I am really enjoying. Wverything's much more intense than it was in the quad as there are fewer people in the boat and the standard of competition is fiercer. I'm really looking forwards to racing at the world championships at the end of September.
