ne way that event organizers can make their holiday party planning a bit easier is to choose a casino resort as their host location. At these venues, things like function space, cuisine and entertainment all are on-site at a single location, making them both unique and convenient.

Several of the region’s casinos offer a variety of spaces from which to choose for holiday gatherings, and can provide exciting tie-ins, such as entertainment, gaming and fine dining, to make a holiday party more fun and memorable.

In the Mid-Atlantic Region, Atlantic City is a resort destination that has been synonymous with casinos since the late 1970s. One of the city’s premier venues for meetings and events is Tropicana Atlantic City, where Steve Callendar, general manager, offers some insight about the property’s offerings during the holiday season and also year-round.

“Tropicana Atlantic City is a top ranking east coast destination located on the Atlantic City boardwalk and is just steps from the beach,” says Callendar. “The resort has just under 2,400 hotel rooms and features a variety of dining, shop- ping and entertainment experiences for guests to enjoy, including: 24 restau- rants, 18 bars and lounges, 25 retail shops, an IMAX Theatre, two swimming pools, a wellness spa, and a spectacular Multimedia Light and Sound Show.”

Its parent company, Tropicana Entertainment Inc., recently invested over $90 million in renovations and just acquired a boutique hotel that will be linked to the resort.

When it comes to holiday parties, Tropicana offers a range of unique venues that can fit functions of any shape or size. Says Callendar, “Whether you’re planning an intimate work dinner or an over-the-top holiday party, the resort offers several venues from which to choose, including Olón - with panoramic views overlooking Atlantic City’s iconic boardwalk, this restaurant can accom- modate parties from 15 - 150 guests with a variety of tasting menus and bever- age packages that feature Ecuadorian-inspired delicacies by award-winning Chef Jose Garces.”

Another Garces restaurant at Tropicana, Okatshe, offers parties of 10 - 80 guests an experience they might find in Tokyo, featuring a modern take on a tradition- al Japanese izakaya, sushi and ramen.
