AU NATURAL A truly ecological project…

This natural pool complements the ecology of the owner’s Grade I listed home.

After initial concept plans, Ensata designed the 4x16m pool with adjacent shallow end and additional shelving beach for the client’s young family to paddle and access the shallow end. “The construction had to be as ecological as possible,” explains Sarah Murch, Director of Ensata, “We used Biotop’s recycled walling units instead of concrete walls, used local stone to fi ll the gabions to retain the slope at the back of the pool, used our client’s local boulders placed in the beach, to tie in with the stone walls surrounding the garden. “A grassy crescent surrounded by fragrant meadow-like

planting provides our client with a naturalistic and secluded sunbathing spot beside the water. The pool is orientated to receive sun all day on the sun deck, to maximise thermal gain.” Says Sarah: “This pool is one of our favourites so far I think, because it is so simple, it functions well for our client and his family, but also sits so well within the walled garden surroundings. It’s a truly ecological project with water at its heart.” Ensata Tel. 01909 485621 www.ensata.co.uk
