Two months ago we reported about Marilyn Stanley in Moraira who was very grateful indeed to Asociacion Amigos Europeos de Javea (AAEdJ) for their excellent ambulance service after she suffered an injury.

This month we would like to tell you about Atie de Jong, a Dutch lady who needed an AAEdJ ambulance to collect her off a ferry.

The story starts when Atie went to visit her daughter and her partner on the island of Ibiza for a short visit. Sadly Atie suffered a serious fall while she was on the island, causing her to break her hip. She was hospitalised on Ibiza, and after 2 days underwent an operation there to ‘pin’ the hip. Then 5 days after the operation, Atie was allowed to travel back to Denia on the ferry.

Atie’s husband had contacted AAEdJ and one of their state of the art ambulances was waiting for Atie when the ferry docked in Denia, and brought her home to her house in Jávea.

No other ambulance service would have been able to provide this service as it was not classed as an emergency, so heaven knows how Atie would have gotten off the boat and to her home if it wasn’t for the personal service provided by AAEdJ. She is certain that due to the pain she was in that she would not have managed to get into a car.

But the story does not end there. Because after a week of being at home, Atie’s hip was unfortunately not healing at all well, and the decision was made for Atie to have another operation. This required her to be taken to the main hospital in Valencia, where the original metalwork of the first operation was completely removed, and this time a new replacement head to her femur was fitted.

And thankfully Atie is now on the mend, Female Focus has spoken with her, and although still in a wheelchair at the moment, she is hoping to be out of it in a week or so.

Speaking about the ambulance service Atie is extremely positive about the transportation care that she received. “They were very, very good” she says. “The girl in the ambulance the first time was so friendly, she was from Pedreguer, and really nice”. She continues “On the second journey to Valencia it was a very friendly young man who was in the ambulance with me. And he helped make me feel very assured.”

Atie concludes “We were very happy with their service, we always recommend AAEdJ to other people, it is a MUST to be signed up with them, and to have them ready to help you if you need them”.

So the moral of this story is that you never know when or where an ambulance might be needed. So don’t miss the boat (sorry we had to get that in somewhere!) ... sign up and become a member of AAEdJ now. For just €50 FOR THE YEAR for the WHOLE FAMILY this cover isn’t a ‘nice to have’....it is a ‘must have’....and those are the exact words of Atie who has just needed their ambulance service three times. Good luck Atie, thank you for telling us about your story, and Female Focus wishes you all the very best for a full and speedy recovery.

To become a member of AAEdJ call Laure Bolufer the Registration Manager on 96 579 6099 (Laure works from 10am to 1pm every weekday). Their service covers almost all of Costa Blanca North but Laure does warn people “Please don’t think that you can register with us on the day that you need us. You must be a member of the association to use our services – so become a member now!”
