Maintaining the dream of living in Spain

in your senior years. By Amanda Hobbs – Ciudad Patricia

Most of us came to Spain, for the climate and better quality of life. In many cases, we found the perfect villa, with extra room for when family comes to stay, large gardens and a pool. The sort of place where dreams became reality and memories are made.

As we get on a bit, the large villa, once a source of pleasure, has become a bit of a burden. The garden’s getting too big, the pool needs cleaning weekly and the villa needs more than the odd job to keep it up to scratch. Worse, those spare rooms are never used, and the reality is somewhat different to the dream. You love living here with your friends about you, but you’re facing a time when you know it’s time to move on.

Ciudad Patricia offers a wonderful solution. The luxury retirement apartments are designed with you in mind. Each building has its own caretaker so all those odd jobs are someone else’s problem. The 4 large pools are cared for so all you have to work out is which swimsuit to wear. The resort has short term accommodation should your family ever visit and being right here on the Costa Blanca, you’re never too far from existing friends, and have a golden opportunity to make new friends.

Getting on a bit brings its health concerns which is why there’s 24 hour emergency health cover on-site as well as a GP surgery on site. There’s a residential care home should you need to recuperate after (for example) an operation. There’s a residents’ support helper for shopping, prescriptions and translations etc. There’s also plenty to keep you occupied: petanca, gym, spa, mini-golf, hobby room, library, terrace cafeteria and a restaurant – all within the resort.

The first step to finding out is to make an appointment and visit where you can see for yourself and find out just what good value Ciudad Patricia is for senior living. To make this step, just pick up the phone or email Amanda on 673 064 288 / ahobbs@ciudadpatricia.com.

Specsavers Opticas have announced the winners of the Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards 2017. The first prize of 1,000€ and a pair of designer glasses has been awarded to Lidia Miralles Oms who submitted a picture of herself looking fantastic

in her stylish statement black frames. As well as looking pretty as a picture, the judges chose her because of her great reason to feel proud of wearing glasses - “I think of my glasses as an accessory that are an essential part of myself and they give a strong sense of my personality. I love the way I look in them!”. She was also very popular with the Facebook fans, who agreed with our judges that she was a worthy winner.

There are also 4 semi-finalists from the different age categories who have all won one pair of designer glasses worth 159€ :- Jessica Crespo Hall - Gabriele Beate Hefele - Nicola Mahaffey - Marco Aurelio Macia Gomez.
