Can’t Sleep for the Heat by Lucy Rowat: The Bed Centre, Calpe
No matter how hard you try, the heat can make it impossible to sleep. Air-conditioning is great, but you wake up with a stuffy nose. Fans can work, but are
noisy. What’s needed is a scientific approach to managing heat whilst sleeping.
So in developing materials, where do you go? Well, NASA has been dealing with this issue throughout the manned spaceflight programme. In spacesuits, you need a fabric that can buffer temperature swings and maintain body temperature at optimum for working in space. Now transfer that technology to the bedroom and you have a range of products by Velfont® which will keep your body temperature at an optimal sleeping level, which means that it’s much easier to - well - sleep of course!
