Reindeer Essential to Sámi culture and life, reindeer provide everything from clothes to food and are kept in herds that are moved long distances across vast areas of land to the rhythm of changing seasons. The highest concentration of reindeer held as livestock is found on the Finnmark plateau, where for centuries Sámi have been moving their herds back and forth from the inland to the coast.
