The Ridgeon Group raises a grand total of £30,852 for Macmillan Cancer Support!
RIDGEONS, the East of England’s biggest independent timber and builders’ merchant, has announced it has raised an incredible £30,852 for Macmillan Cancer Support, the company’s elected charity of 2015-2017. Ridgeons initially
set a
£20000 target for the two-year partnership, which employees and customers assisted to exceed by over £10000, through various fundraising activities.
Activities included quiz nights, Go Green Week, branch coffee mornings, sponsored runs, a Euro 2016 Sweepstake and cake sales.
The money raised by the Ridgeon Group will help Macmillan to fund one of their Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialists for 7 months. In this time a nurse can reach on average 93 patients, and their friends and families.
Clinical Nurse Specialists are registered nurses, who are clinical experts in nursing practice within a speciality area.
They are often the main point of contact for people with cancer and their loved ones from the point of diagnosis, during treatment and beyond.
They help to ensure people have the right level of information, feel supported and are coping with the physical and emotional effects of their treatment.
