BLYTH VALLEY LABOUR HOME AND AWAY
THE Branch heard reports from more of its members involve strongly in the local community, both in Halesworth & Blithing and in Southwold & Reydon. An in-depth update on the plans for the Halesworth Campus reported that, as with all “the best-laid plans of mice and men” the original innovative and inspiring vision is unable to be carried out in full. The branch congratulated the Trust, however, for rescuing the core of the plan and ensuring that it will go ahead in only a slightly truncated form.

Members in Southwold & Reydon (and some other parts of the branch) who had engaged in the 2015 “Consultation” carried out by Great Yarmouth & Waveney CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) attended a recent meeting to learn that the Care Home which was promised for the area “before the hospital closed” (the hospital then closed a couple of months later with not so much as a brick in sight) is not likely to be provided at all, as the project was put out to tender and no takers came forward. It seems
demonstration, both in London. These were good-tempered, peaceful marches and very well- attended, but there was little or no press coverage. That is, of course, disappointing, but nevertheless Branch members stood up to be counted – the despots and demagogues cannot Have it all their own way. the CCG thinking is that the site should be sold, though many residents
attending were very
opposed to this, feeling that a community use should be found, if only temporarily, as the need for a Care Home may become essential at a future date to relieve pressure on James Paget Hospital.

03119905 Halesworth Men’s Shed
THIS month, our gratitude goes to the Heveningham Hall Country Fair Trust for their very generous award, enabling us to proceed with the installation of the much needed toilets. Some of you may be aware that last year we were nominated for
“The High Sheriff’s
Organisation of the Year Award” and although not a finalist we did receive a certificate “In recognition of the positive contribution our group has made to our local community”. We were nominated again this year and again whilst not a
finalist we have received another recognition certificate. Maybe next year, if nominated, we might make the finals.
On Saturday 25th March, the current sheriff William Kendal, visited our Shed with his wife Miranda (photo below), to present our certificate and was duly impressed with our organisation so much so that he seems to have caught the “Men’s Shed” bug. The
Shed is open from
Tuesday to Thursday 10am until 2pm and Saturdays 10am until 12pm.
We are located on the Norwich Road behind Chinny’s - our banner will show you where we are! Come along and join us! Telephone (Shedline) - 01986 835905 please call us and leave us a message, we’ll get back to you. Website -
