The game started brightly with Chris I’Anson and Mikey Roberts threatening whenever they touched the ball. In the first five minutes Roberts delivered a perfect cross from the right wing which I’Anson latched onto but his goal bound shot was deflected wide. On the quarter hour Guisborough took the lead when it Luke Bythway’s delivered a perfect

ball to Mikey Roberts, who scored his first goal since the trip to Scarborough Athletic. Ashington picked up after this goal and Jack Norton had to make a couple of saves including a reaction save on half an hour when his legs stopped a certain goal as he went down.

At half time the youngsters took part in an exciting penalty shoot-out competition, which thrilled the large crowd. Guisborough’s 1-0 lead lasted until five minutes into the second half when a Tommy English shot was deflected into Guisborough’s net by Phil Bell. Meanwhile, the Priorymen are back at home this Boxing Day on 26 December with an 11am kick off at the KGV against local rivals Marske United, who Guisborough Town defeated in the North Riding Senior County Cup final last season. Town have this week bolstered their squad with the signing of two new players – experienced former player Jamie Poole who has re-signed from Consett and promising local league football prospect, Liam O’Sullivan. Both are likely to feature in the Boxing Day match.

Waist management

here are some critical success factors when trying to win the battle of the midriff bulge. Here are Oxygym Ladies Fitness Club’s top tips to lose that fat around your middle.

When you drink alcohol the liver stops producing fatty acids for fuel and switches to the alcohol instead. So it leaves any fatty acids it should have been using to be stored in adipose tissue. So the big belly wasn’t formed by the alcohol but by the fat you should have used for fuel. So if you know you are going to drink alcohol then have a low fat meal before hand and leave the pie and chips for another day.

Yes you may lose weight quickly but the body is very clever and will quickly move into starvation mode decreasing the body’s ability to burn fat making it even more difficult to move the stubborn bulge around your waist.

The University of Northumbria recently discovered that people who ate a high fibre breakfast (porridge, low muesli) before cardio exercise burned twice as much fat while running.

4.

The most effective way of burning fat is to do high intensity interval training. To boost your energy burning capacity try this- Using the stationary bike in the gym sprint for 15 seconds at 9/10 effort; recover for 30 seconds at an intensity of 4/5. Initially repeat five times, gradually adding more sets.

5.

Sitting for long periods switches off an enzyme (lipase) that prevents fat storage.

Don’t starve yourself to be thinner.

The enzyme is mostly found in the muscles that keep you standing, so if you aren’t active it doesn’t function. Take regular standing breaks, or try to work on your lap top standing up for 10 minutes every hour.

6.

Lift weights 2-3 times a week. This will help reduce blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity; improve mood boost; decrease your mortality risk and of course spike up your sex drive; decrease blood pressure reducing the risk of stroke by up to 40%; increases lean muscle that will effective help melt excess fat in your body.

Here’s the bad news Mc Donalds milk shake equivalent to 28 sugar cubes per drink; standard can of pop 10 sugar cube equivalents’; standard bowl of Fosties cereal 6 sugar cubes; Mars Bar 17 sugar cubes.

8.

Not true. The idea that you can’t burn off calories because you are asleep has been rubbished by the Oregon Health and Science University. In fact when you are asleep, the body switches into fat burning mode.

9. Eating late makes you gain weight? 7. Avoid high sugar content foods.

you burn off is the main reason for weight gain. Exercise increases the number off calories burnt and so is vital in controlling weight and weight gain.
