Coastal View & Moor News Issue 19

N

ew Year is often a time of reflection for people where New Year

resolutions are made. Life style changes are often a popular choice for resolutions and after the indulgences that go with this time of year.

If you’re looking for new direction, to make changes in your life and are perhaps in a rut then the new course called New You with NLP Trainer and Life Coach Linda Innes could be just what you need. Don’t worry about not knowing anyone because you soon will.

Another popular New Year Resolution is losing weight and healthy eating. New for 2012 is the Nutrition club with Nutritionalist, Eleanor Nicholls. Eleanor shares some thoughts and information with you below. Health and Wellbeing – what effect does it have on our lives, is it just another load of mumbo jumbo or is it something we should really focus on?

If you were lucky enough to own a top of the range sports car would you fill it with cheap oil and fuel? Would you leave it outside at the mercy of the elements to rust? NO – you would polish it, look after it, fill it with the best fuel so that it gave you optimum performance.

What we eat has a massive impact on our health, energy levels and wellbeing and understanding what nutrition our bodies need can open up a whole new future of wellness for ourselves and our families. Are you always tired and rundown?

Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to improve your health and wellbeing? Does your sports

performance need a boost? From Monday 16th January I will be running a Nutrition club at Saltburn Well Being Centre. The club will be weekly from

Now think about your body – this is much more valuable than any sports car – it is priceless! It has to last us 70, 80, 90 years – the choice is yours. But how many of us fill our bodies with the right fuel to give us maximum performance? How many of us eat on the hoof, shovelling in anything that’s quick and to hand without any thought to how it will affect our health and wellbeing even in the short term?

Healthier, fitter and a new job G

etting older has its benefits some might

say. “Being overweight isn’t one of them” says Denise Honeywell, 51 of Redcar. “I have a positive outlook

on life but knew that if I didn’t do something about my increasing weight I’d just keep getting bigger and it was getting me down”. The mum of two had already tried a couple of diets to try and beat the bulge but hadn’t managed to lose any of the weight she was after. “Losing weight’s like a lot of things in life where you know what you should do, but doing it’s another thing altogether” says Denise who is now two and a half stones lighter than when she decided to take action in April last year. “I talked myself into joining Slimming World near where I live. I asked my niece to join with me because I didn’t want to go on my own. I was scared of the thought of it to be honest but I was so miserable that I really wanted to try it. I found the eating plan really easy. I got such a surprise when I found out I could eat normal meals and lose weight.

The whole family enjoys all the Slimming World meals and both my husband and son have lost weight without trying just by eating what I cook! It really helped that the people at the group are so nice and really help each other”. Denise has been so happy

with the support she’s had all through her journey to her target weight that at 51 she’s starting a new career by taking up the post of Slimming World consultant for the Redcar Community College group in January. “If somebody had said that within two years you’ll be healthier, slimmer and fitter and have a new job as well I wouldn’t have believed them” says a delighted Denise who takes over on Monday 16th January at 7pm. For further enquiries Denise can be contacted on 01642 293461. “When I think of all the

years I messed about and kept putting off losing weight it annoys me but now I know I finally did the right thing and I want to help as many people as I can to get what I’ve got by running a group myself” says a happy Denise
