His charitable tendency and willingness to invest huge money in his country have all but garnered respect for the former Leone Stars captain. But today, the former Inter Milan star insist he is in Sierra Leone to always do what he likes best in this exclusive interview with African Sports Monthly Magazine.
African Sports Monthly (ASM) We all now know the fairytale story of how you moved from a poor humble young boy to the rich football superstar you came to be. How do you look back now at your story?
Mohamed Kallon (MK); It’s been a long way indeed, but to me it still seems like yes- terday. Since I started my football career on the streets of Freetown playing for sev- eral junior clubs and later getting the chance to make it to the Old Edwardians first di- vision side, I always wanted to be nothing but a footie star, all my dreams and handwork were devoted towards achieving that aim. I trained hard in those days even though there wasn’t much to eat or much to earn I carried on and believed that I could make it. But my life has never been a fairytale as you put it even in Europe it was never easy as I struggled hard to adapt to life over there and worked relent- lessly to sustain my success. Even though the journey was so long football has been my great passion and I’m really happy to have achieved a lot in football and still in love with the game and I am look- ing back at those days with relish and
