to your health. A player’s bread and butter is still his club football and a lot of players have decided to retire from international football so that they can concentrate on their club football.

BLATTER HAS NO SHAME

In the middle of the two cases of racist allega- tions in the English Premier League, the last thing anyone needed was the interjection of thrash by non other than the President of FIFA – Sepp Blatter. Although FIFA would have you know that they have done a lot of things for Afri- can football including increasing the number of teams that represent Africa at the World cup and taking the World Cup to an African Country for the first time, Blatter’s comments that racist comments on the field should be settled with a handshake.

I can only imagine that Blatter is completely out of touch with reality and clearly has never been racially abused in his life! Although he back- tracked and apologized, the damage has already been done! As the custo- dian of world football he should know better.

What I found remarkable was that the likes of Michel Platini who is the president of UEFA did not make any comment on the issue. Maybe he feels that because he wants to become the president in future there is no need for him to rock the boat! If you think that was bad enough what have the African administrators been doing? Why has there been silence from Isa Hayatou et al? I guess they do not want to mess up the little sti- pendiary that Blatter throws their way, not to talk of the fact that there is no money to be gained from speaking out about such an issue! Very sad!
