Thank you, Patti!

District Executive Transition Lake Minnetonka District Executive Patti Czech has decided to leave the BSA profession; her last day will be November 15.

Patti joined the Northern Star Council in June, 2006 and held professional positions in the Three Rivers and Lake Minnetonka Districts. She is a Broth- erhood member of the Order of the Arrow and completed Wood Badge – for which she is very proud to claim being an “Eagle”.

Lake Minnetonka District attained Quality District status every year she has been the district executive. The Lake Minnetonka district committee has grown to nearly 100 leaders, and has more youth Scouts than any other district in the Northern Star Council.

Scouting will still be a part of the Czech family household, as her sons are still very active in Scouting. Thank you, Patti – for all you have done for Scouting.

Bob Thielen, Field Director Northern Star Council, BSA

“Many thousands of hours are donated by 3M employees and retirees each year. We value the opportunity to salute those among us who give their time to make a difference in our communities,” said Robin Torgeson, vice president, 3M Community Affairs. “The 3M Community Volunteer Award allows us to thank those outstanding volunteers who go above and beyond for others.”

www.ManyWaters.nsbsa.org Recruitment Update

Teri Fick (second from left), recipient of the 3M Community Volunteer Award. Training, Training, Training…

Over 60 leaders were trained on Oct 15th and 16th helping to ensure a great program for the youth in the district. With many leaders attending OLS and BALOO we will see lots of scouts bringing the “OUTING” into Scouting. Thanks to all those leaders for taking the time out of your busy schedule to attend the training and to all the staff that took part in presenting the materials. If you are not yet trained for your position, be sure to check the training page at www.northernstarbsa.org or plan to attend the Uof S on Oct 29th at Brooklyn Jr. High in Brooklyn Park.

At the time of this writing we are putting the final touches to scheduling boy talks and printing flyers for follow up recruit- ment events. We are still looking for 211 Cub Scouts and 12 Venturers to reach our membership goals. These goals are very attainable and we need everyone’s help to recruit as many kids as possible. If you have any questions please contact Beth Toutges at (612)845-7354 or Tim Anders (651)254-9128.

Winter Camporee

Many years ago, men raced by means of dogs and sleds across the frozen wastes of Alaska in search of GOLD! Get your sleds ready and follow your maps from city to city in search of the gold. Plan to join us on January 13-15, 2012 at Fred C. Anderson. Watch for information at the November roundtable.

Friends of Scouting Welcome to the 2012 Friends of Scout- ing Campaign. The Many Waters District is proud to announce that this years Family FOS Chair will be Paul Schultz. He is excited and energized to lead this year’s campaign. Thank you to those that sent representatives to last months FOS training. Please submit your unit’s presentation dates and presenter information online at www.northernstarbsa.org/planner or to Paul as soon as possible. If you still need to pick up your packet or have questions please contact Paul at 651-426-9128 or pschultz1p@comcast.net.

2013 National Jamboree Sounds so far away but final details are being put together now. To be a part of this great event, first to be held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, visit our site at www.northernstarbsa.org/Nation- alJamboree.

Adult leader inter-

views will take place in late Janu- ary and early February 2012 but you need to register to be considered. If you have any questions on the Jam- boree you can contact Tim Anders at TAnders@nsbsa.org or 651-254-9128.

Time to Recharter

Recharter packets will be distributed in November for the troops and crews, which means all troops and crews need to attend a special workshop at 6:30PM on Nov. 3rd (before roundtable). Please make every effort to have your unit represented for this workshop. If you have any questions or cannot attend the workshop please contact Randy Miller at Randymiller.manywaters@q.com.
