November Silver Maple


Volunteer Spotlight Silver Maple welcomes Pao Tchang as new the District Commissioner. Pao has done many great things for Silver Maple and has been a long-time volunteer for the District.


He has been focusing on recruiting new unit com- missioners and helping each unit achieve Journey to Excellence. On behalf all the district and troop 9002, we want to thank Pao for attending Tomahawk with the troop and his service to the District.


Most recently he helped out with the 10th Annual Hmong Resource Fair on October 1st, held at the Aldrich Arena in Maplewood.


Unit Happenings


Led by Leader Nou Vang, Leng Vue and other unit leaders, venture crew 9527 and 53 celebrate their Sports Awards night on Saturday, October 8th at the Roseville Professionals Building. Over 80 people celebrated with the winners from the Venturing Sports Tournament in September.


Congratulations to Crew 53 for placing 1st in Football, Troop 203 for taking 1st in soccer and Crew 9527 for taking 1st in Volleyball. Thanks for all your hard work in planning and executing both these events.

Help Wanted


As we continue to rebuild Silver Maple District, we are looking for adult volunteers who want to take part of the scouting movement.


We need people that have different skills from different backgrounds. Whether your specialty is working with youths, fundraising, setting up meetings, event planning, counseling or fishing, we would love to have you join our team.


We ask for a one year minimum commitment and in return we will provide you with all the training and support you need to be successful.


Many of our volunteers have stayed involved for numerous years because of their passion to help youths and the fun they have.

Three Rivers Fall Cub Campout


The Three Rivers District held its Fall Cub Campout in October at Rum River Scout Camp. This was an extremely successful event with over 500 people in attendance. Thank you to Michelle Nelson, Dennis Fallon and all of the volunteers for your leadership on this event.


Family FOS Campaign 2012


The Family Friends of Scouting Campaign for 2012 is nearly underway. Unit FOS packets and training will be available to units that have scheduled an FOS date at our training at the November 3rd Roundtable.


If you have not yet scheduled a Family FOS presentation date for the upcoming year, please take the time to contact the Three Rivers Family FOS Chair, Jeff Wiser at jwincrmn@yahoo.com as soon as possible.


Keep in mind that presentations should be completed by or before the end of March, 2012. Also, if you would like to have a district volunteer visit your unit and do your Family FOS presentation, please send an email request to Jeff Wiser.


Rechartering/Unit Inventories Recharter packets for Troops and Crews will be available at the November 3rd Roundtable and at the December Roundtable for Packs. Troops and Crews will begin the recharter process in November. During October, each unit should con- duct a unit inventory and submit an updated unit roster to District Director, Jamie Lamprecht at JLamprecht@nsbsa.org .


Training The Three Rivers District will be offering several tranings in November and De-


cember this year. On November 19th, we will be offering BALOO and OWLS Training and on December 10th, we will be offering all adult leader training.

Loop-A-Looza


The Cub Scout Loop-A-Looza will take place on Saturday, December 17th at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Ramsey. You can sign up online on the district website. We will be offering 2 sessions of activities…space is limited, so register early.


Klondike Derby & WinterQuest


Save the date for Saturday, February 18th, 2012 at Rum River for the annual Klondike Derby for Boy Scouts and WinterQuest for Cub Scouts. Information will be coming soon to Roundtable.

The 3 Rivers District Boy Scout Roundtable held its annual Boy Scout Open House which encourages WEBELOS scouts, leaders and parents the opportunity to visit different Troops in the area. This year there were 16 Troops present from all over the Three Rivers District.


The youth from the troops highlighted what they did, where they were located, what activities they partake in and where they summer camp. Displays ranged from poster boards, power point slide shows, making ice cream and kitchen spoon ballista launching marsh-mellows.


This is the fourth year for the event and continues to grow each year. This year, over 100 WEBELOS, leaders and parents attended the event.
