activities 2011 Walk to End Hunger: Start a Team for Nov. 24 Walk at MOA
Presented by Greater Twin Cities United Way and Mosaic Company WHAT: Walk to End Hunger, an initiative developed to raise awareness and funds to end hunger in the nine-county metro area of Minnesota and gather thousands of non-perishable food items for the hunger relief organizations in the Twin Cities.
WHERE: Mall of America® Rotunda WHEN: Thanksgiving Day Morning, Thursday, November 24, 2011, 7:00 to 10:00 a.m.
The entire 5K route is 6 laps around the Mall and takes less than 2 hours for the average walker to complete. Walkers can walk as much or as little as they like. Activities and entertainment will take place at 3 locations around the Walk route including children's art activities with ArtStart/Artscraps.
WHO: Walk to End Hunger is presented by the Twin Cities Hunger Initiative, a collaboration of hunger relief partner agencies that have developed a definitive plan to eliminate hunger in the Twin Cities by 2015. The Initiative has rallied participation by a variety of hunger relief agencies to work with MOA on Walk to End Hunger including Aliveness Project, Catholic Charities, Emergency Foodshelf Network, Greater Twin Cities United Way, Hope For The City, Hunger Solutions, Keystone Community Services, Loaves and Fishes, Minnesota FoodShare, Neighborhood House, Neighbors, Inc., Salvation Army, Second Harvest Heartland and VEAP.
WHY: One in five families with children has trouble putting food on the table. Organizations that work with people on an emergency food basis see the trends and critical issues around hunger, a condition that is intolerable, but solvable, and one that must be addressed.
HOW: Visit
