All concrete gravity based foundation are constructed from reinforced concrete, to achieve a reliable supply chain the supply and delivery of large volumes of cut and bent steel reinforcement must be systematic and robust. BRC is the largest supplier of steel reinforcement and associated products in the UK. SUSTAINABLE POLICY


BRC is committed to being a sustainable manufacturer and supplier. They operate a quality management system which is certified to ISO 9001:2000, and all of their depots are CARES approved. BRC is also certified to environmental and health and safety management systems ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 respectively.


Their commitment to being a sustainable manufacturer and supplier is also demonstrated by their certification and participation in the development of the Eco-Reinforcement responsible sourcing scheme. Eco-Reinforcement is a third-party certification scheme developed by the UK reinforcing steel sector to comply with BRE Global’s BES 6001:2008 Framework Standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products. This scheme does not examine the organisations’ level of sustainability in isolation; it demands full supply chain transparency, from raw material source to delivery on site as a finished reinforcement products.


RECYCLING


In addition to this BRC source 100% of their steel from mills which use the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) method of steel production. EAF steel production uses 98% recycled scrap to manufacture steel billet which can then be rolled into wire rod and steel reinforcement bar and coil. In addition to this, all scrap produced by BRC is in turn recycled.
