SPONSORS OF REGIONAL FOCUS

SPOTLIGHT ON

THE HUMBER AREA

AN INTRODUCTION BY SMART WIND ENTERPRISE ZONE STATUS

From a political viewpoint the area has also promoted itself very successfully and has already secured Government Enterprise zone status, as well as submitting a strong case for hosting the planned UK wide Technology and Innovation Centre (TIC) for the offshore wind, wave and tidal industries based at the University of Hull.

Our opening regional positively focused introduction has been penned by Steve Clarke from SMart Wind, a supply chain- led consortium specifically structured to deliver large-scale, offshore wind energy projects. Behind the joint venture lies a strategic partnership between Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Project Ventures, combining expertise in offshore wind-farm development, consenting, construction, operations and maintenance, as well as large-scale infrastructure project financing.

Steve is no stranger to the Humber area and is well qualified to champion its merits – not only that but Steve was instrumental in the setting up of the OrbisEnergy Centre in Lowestoft, highlighted in our previous regional focus on East Anglia.
