INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Wind Energy Network The tried, tested and trusted communication hub for the wind energy industry

ONLINE LIBRARY

As you will read in more detail within our events and update progress pages, we are now well on our way in introducing an online library, which will become a great resource for the wind energy industry.

FREE TO CONTRIBUTE AND FREE TO ACCESS

This will be free to contribute and free to access. The library will contain articles and relevant contributions from experts throughout the industry.

This strengthens our position of being the communication hub for the industry and so the effort given by our contributors, with assistance from ourselves is very worthwhile.

CONTRIBUTORS – THE FERRIBY GROUP AND CONSENSE

We try to avoid focusing on specific companies and organisations, who contribute to our publication, however on this occasion we believe they are well worth commenting on because of their expected contributions in forthcoming editions, and their perceived worth to the industry as a whole.

THE FERRIBY GROUP – CAPTAIN GRAHAM BOTTERILL

When putting together the Humber area regional focus feature we met some very interesting characters and none more so than Captain Graham Botterill, who is the Managing Director and Group Chairman of the Ferriby Group.

There are few who recognise the name locally/UK wide but many who know him internationally.

His achievements are extraordinary and some of his life experiences too! We will therefore be featuring his interesting projects and personal exploits in future editions.

CONSENSE AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Community engagement keeps coming up at many conferences and we have experienced some heated debates regarding planning and public opinion. This mainly affects onshore wind farm projects, however there are a number of offshore projects which involve onshore facilities, so the subject area affects the whole industry.

Within this edition you will find Paul Luen’s Business Development article relating to the importance of social media. Consense have some interesting data to share, which may be very helpful to our industry within this difficult area. We will therefore be featuring this, as well as other relevant information, in forthcoming editions.

THEMES

We continue to expand our themes for each edition and now list ‘Wind Farm Foundations’, as well as our now regular ‘Spotlight On’ featuring ‘an area of excellence in wind energy throughout Europe and beyond’.

Please feel free to contact us if you wish to highlight any specific area within the industry and we will endeavour to encourage debate and feature the issue within our publication.
