SPONSORS OF REGIONAL FOCUS

‘Spotlight On’ The Humber area joint sponsors

THE UNIVERSITY OF HULL & THE GRIMSBY RENEWABLES PARTNERSHIP

We also introduce our sponsors for this feature – the University of Hull and the Grimsby Renewables Partnership and could not have wished for a better outcome.

Both the University of Hull and the Grimsby Renewables Partnership work tirelessly to promote the whole area.

THE GRIMSBY RENEWABLES PARTNERSHIP LOGISTICS CONNECTIONS

The Grimsby Renewables Partnership (GRP) was established three years ago to promote the unique benefits Grimsby and Immingham offer to the offshore wind industry. It brings together North East Lincolnshire Council, with key private sector players and the Grimsby Institute to deliver a single point of contact for Offshore Wind Sector support in the Greater Grimsby area.

PORT OF GRIMSBY http://www.windenergynetwork.co.uk/enhanced-entries/grimsby-renewables-partnership/

As the port closest to the mouth of the Humber, Grimsby is uniquely positioned as the port closest to the existing and proposed wind farms in the Southern North Sea. As a result it is already the base for Siemens, Centrica and RES for their Operations and Maintenance (O&M) delivery for the Lynne and Inner Dowsing and Lincs wind farms with further investments expected.

PORT OF IMMINGHAM

The Port of Immingham is the biggest in volume terms in the UK but gives significant further opportunities to the offshore wind sector in terms of construction, installation and broader logistics capability. Both ports are also planning to invest in new facilities to further develop the local offer.

Both ports benefit from excellent road and rail connections. Humberside Airport just 20 minutes from the quayside offers international connecting flights and is the second biggest offshore helicopter transfer base in the UK.

COMBINATION

Combine these benefits with a good engineering base and a skilled and committed workforce and we believe that Greater Grimsby offers your business an excellent place to do business in offshore wind.
