Why do you think the awards are so well recognised by the industry? Put simply, it’s really hard to win a POPAI Award. With 218 entries competing in a total of 20 categories from across the industry – including both POPAI members and nonmembers – anyone who wins a POPAI Award, whether Bronze, Silver or Gold, has to be good at what they do. The POPAI Awards are also totally specific to the industry, which is also important to the Awards’ credibility.
Are there any previous winners that have really stood out for you? Every year there are entries that stand out from the crowd. The 2010 Display of the Year the National Lottery Playstation display (Checkland Kindleyside), was memorable for its sheer scale. Our Innovation Award is also a key category, and the clarity of thought behind the Pringles’ Small Can Magnetic display (PPE Display), that won a Gold Award in 2010, really stood out. This year we have introduced a new
category, the Multichannel & Campaign Award. Last year’s Phones4U ‘Demo Hub’ display by H Squared was in many ways a tipping point, as digital was being seen in traditional POP categories featuring digital elements, rather than solely in our standalone Digital Media in Retail categories.
The POPAI Awards will be taking place 23rd October 2012 at the Hilton Park Lane, London.
Look out for our full recap of all the award winners in next month’s issue!
