IT’S BEEN a busy month for the toy business, with many executives spending almost a week out of the office for Brand Licensing Europe at Olympia, as well as time at Dream Toys and the traditional run of spring/summer previews beginning to retailers.

This year was my first Dream Toys, and I was impressed with the amount of news coverage it generated for the business, both in broadcast and in the national media. Despite the plethora of most wanted toy lists from retailers, the TRA run down is the one every firm wants to make. Plus, it always seems to throw up some good talking points – the inclusion of John Adams’ surprise hit Doggie Doo was the item to raise a few eyebrows this year.
