Former launch editor of ToyNews, Carter, rejoins title as Managing Editor, Spin Master Italy takes on a new general manager, Pierce joins Jumbo as marketing manager, Toys R Us hires a new managing director, and six new starters bolster Moshi Monsters...

The ToyNews editorial department has been bolstered with the appointment of LISA CARTER as managing editor. Carter (nee Foster) was the launch editor of ToyNews when publisher Intent Media acquired the title ten years ago.
She rejoins the team as ToyNews looks to further grow its market- leading online position, and with a number of exciting developments in the pipeline for the print edition. She will work alongside the
existing team of Samantha Loveday (editor), Katie Roberts (deputy editor), Lewis Tyer (staff writer) and Emily Briggs (sales manager).

DANIELA PAVONE has been chosen to lead Spin Master Italy as general manager. She joins from Mattel where she worked up to the position of marketing director. Spin Master has opened its new Milan office to support the growth of brands and manage direct relations with the local market. Denis Normand, SVP international sales and marketing, said: “Italy holds tremendous opportunity for the toy industry and we at Spin Master hope to position ourselves as a key distribution leader in this region.
“Expanding into Italy and strengthening our brands is a significant part of Spin Master’s international growth strategy." Pavone will handle all of Spin
Master’s brands in Italy. She said: "I accepted with great enthusiasm the challenge to bring to Italy this company, whose values, which have been so important at its beginning and still are a pillar for its growth, I deeply share.

Spin Master Italy has also welcomed Edgardo Di Meo as senior brand manager and Dino Canuti as sales manager.
KATHERINE PIERCE has joined Jumbo as marketing manager. Pierce previously worked in the video games industry. Pierce takes up the role with immediate effect and will have responsibility for marketing Jumbo’s full range of children and adult puzzles and games across all platforms. She is tasked with building the
Wasgij, Stratego and Falcon brands. Pierce has previously worked at games publishers Sega and Activision.
Gray Richmond, managing director at Jumbo, said: “We are excited to welcome Katherine Pierce to the Jumbo team. With extensive experience in the video games industry, including time at Sega and Activision, we look forward to the knowledge and expertise that she will bring to the role.”
Toys R Us has appointed ROGER MCLAUGHLAN as its new UK managing director.
In his previous role as retail director of Asda Living, McLaughlan helped develop the supermarket’s non-food offering.
Since being acquired by Wal-mart in 1999, Asda has become a key player in areas like toys, electricals and video games.
Prior to his three years at Asda, McLaughlan worked at Marks & Spencer, Stylo and Floors-2-Go.
Moshi Monsters has bolstered its global team with six new hires taking the total head count to nine. Newcomers in the UK are former Chapman Entertainment exec CLARE WIGGINS as head of Moshi Live; SARAH HODGES, who joins from Disney as retail partnership manager and MATT SHONE arrives from Firebox as contracts and royalty manager. In addition, JACK MCCALL has made an internal move to head of product development. Over in the US, CAITLIN GUTEKUNST joins as licensing manager for the Americas, reporting to the head of licensing for the territory, Eric Karp. BRAD SCHULTZ was also recently announced as head of Moshi TV. “We have an extremely exciting
line-up of premium partners bringing some incredible Moshi product to shelf all over the world,” said Darran Garnham, head of global licensing at Mind Candy. “I’ve had the privilege of pulling together a highly talented team, each of whom brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion for Moshi. There are definitely exciting times ahead.”
Mind Candy is looking into plans for further international growth, with announcements due in the New Year.
