Major change for CommSoft

US VOICE applications developer, CommSoft RMS LLC, has opened a new wholly owned subsidiary, CommSoft Software Solutions, to handle its UK business affairs. The newly established company

has taken over sales and service sup- port for the CommsOffice suite of call management and voice record- ing products. Based in Bracknell, CommSoft

Software Solutions currently has four employees, all of whom worked for the previous UK dis- tributor, CommSoft RMS. Customers who previously dealt

directly with CommSoft RMS were quickly notified of the change of contact details by email. Existing distribution channels, which include Panasonic, Nimans, Trust and ScanSource, will remain the unchanged. David Miller, who joined

CommSoft RMS in September and will be working with the new sub- sidiary, explained to Comms Dealer that the company plans to develop a two tier channel structure to service the growing UK market for CommsOffice on the Panasonic, ShoreTel and Avaya platforms. “I’d like to see a core of resellers who deal with us directly while we continue to supply the bulk of the channel through our distributors,” commented Miller.

The American manufacturer stepped in to provide enhanced

levels of service and support for all CommsOffice customers and products within the UK. Miller explained that direct manufacturer support, combined with a series of new launches over the next year, will help to grow sales of CommSoft products for the channel. “This is not a negative event for customers and resellers,” he stated. “It’s the same core of four people that they’ve always dealt with. Apart from a phone number change and new account details for who to pay, it should be business as normal.”

Anthony Church, the owner of CommSoft RMS, is no lon- ger involved with the business and declined to comment.

Chess swoops on Shaftesbury

CHESS Telecom has acquired Shaftesbury Systems, creating a big growth opportunity for Chess’ wholesale division. Shaftesbury Systems is best

known in the channel for develop- ing the ebillz billing system, which has become a household name in the telecoms market.

The acquisition enables Chess to offer existing ebillz customers its wholesale telecoms services. Following the acquisition, for-

mer owners of Shaftesbury Systems, Howard Chaplin and Philip Broder, continue in a consultancy role. Meanwhile, Stephen Dracup,

Chess’ Business Development Dir- ector, has been appointed MD of the billing specialist.

David Pollock, Chess Chief

Executive, commented: “The acq- uisition gives Chess a strategic growth opportunity by offering our telecoms services to Shaftesbury’s customers, and by also offering to our existing wholesale customers the ebillz billing solutions.” Chess Director, Richard Btesh, commented: “Chess has acquired over 45 customer bases in the last six years, a number of which bill using Shaftesbury’s ebillz system.” Shaftesbury Systems employees continue to work from its existing premises in Hertfordshire Chaplin added: “Philip and I

are excited by Chess’ growth plans and we will continue to support them in the future.”

BUSINESS partners, resellers and associates of Daisy descended on Clitheroe Golf Club for the telco’s annual charity golf day in aid of The Prince’s Trust and Barrowford Celtic, raising more than £8,000. Chris Burney, Daisy’s Head of Indirect Sales, commented: “We received fantastic support from the day’s sponsors. They helped us achieve a great total for our two charities. Not only that, we also had a fantastic day out on the course.”
