Round table debates UC

Resellers to get mobile

VODAFONE Gold Partner

CommsXchange is urging more resellers to embrace mobile solu- tions provision with new marketing tools and a Las Vegas incentive. “We have worked hard to get

the right resources and people in place to be able to provide the level of sales, administration and com- mercial support required to sup- port our partners and their custom- ers,” said Director Ross Cooper. The Las Vegas incentive will

THE need to push for better interoperability and educate end users about the cultural changes unified communications brings are paramount if the channel is to truly benefit from the demand for ‘feder- ated workplaces’.

That was the conclusion drawn

from the first in a series of round tables organised by ShoreTel to gain an understanding of where UC is heading and how the chan- nel is addressing the challenge. Attendees alongside Tom Perry,

ShoreTel’s Director of Marketing EMEA, included Richard Bligh (Gamma Telecom), Keith Rob- inson (Avnet), Tim Omer (CBS Interactive), Jason Evans (Response Data Communications), plus ana- lysts Stephanie Watson (MZA) and Richard Thurston (Ovum).

Thurston told the group that 86% of businesses Ovum surveyed recently have deployed Instant Messaging and the remainder will do so within a year.

The consensus was that new

young entrants into the enterprise are demanding more from work- place technologies, and bringing mobility into the UC infrastruc- ture is fundamental. There was also agreement that trusted resellers were best placed to provide UC technology and fill the skills gap. Perry commented: “It was clear

from the forum that we as a vendor have a lot to do to get the channel ready for the demands of super fast broadband customers.”
