2016 marks a distinctive change for the Nordic Team. Every member, except for me, is new. Also, there are no all-mountain, cross-discipline experts. We have two telemark specialists (Grant Bishop and Greg Dixon), and two cross country specialists (Emily Lovett and Greg Rhodes).

First we focused on “improving as a team and as individuals.’” For example, the telemark guys took a deep dive into the 5 Fundamentals of Alpine Skiing with Team Manager Jeb Boyd, discovering and clarifying the similarities that telemark and alpine share. Grant, Greg, and Jeb also discussed what makes telemark unique, the lead change. Because lead change aff ects pressure distribution and adds rotation in the hip sockets, it alters how we think about skiing fundamentals. T e telemark skiers – as well as members of the snowboard and adaptive teams –
